The Navapashanam Murugan Statue is a fascinating statue enshrined in two South Indian temples:
The Arulmigu Dhandayuthapaniswamy Temple in Palani
The குழந்தை வேலாயுதர் கோயில் (Kutralai Velayuthar Temple) in Poombarai, near Kodaikanal
What makes it special?
The statue is unlike others as it is made from Navapashanam, a special ترکیب (takmeeb – mixture) of nine poisons (nava – nine, pasham – poison) according to legend. It is believed to have been created by the famed சித்தர் (Siddhar – sage/saint) Bogar using a unique process.
